This one was made 1968, one of my sweetest years. McQueen drives around in Mustang Mach I, the bad guys drive Dodge Charger, right? The engine sounds definite V8, American muscle car. I noticed a couple of Austin Healey 3000 Mk3 that I was driving in 1967-8 in New Jersey. That was the last big Healy and it’s gone a while now.

I am 5-6. 138 lbs at the time. The healey’s clutch pedal goes so deep down to the well, I had to set pedal extension to operate it properly. Further, I had to put a little pillow at back of my hip to support my pedal work. Then the steering wheel came so close to my face. I barely see the nose of my own car.

Sure, I was able to see far up front. So it was alright to drive fast. But it was quite awkward to drive in city. But that was the funnest car I ever own.

We went up North to Vermont for ski in the winter of 1968. It was a long drive. I cannot recall the name of the ski resort though, that was pretty close to the Lake Champlain, am I spelling right? I remember the temperature we had. that was 38 below Zero. That was cold. We, means me and my former wife. When we went up to the top by the rope tow, I felt coldness came inside of the supposedly worm jacket with feather packed inside.

As I come out of the tow and to the hill top, I see the blue ice covered the snow of the slope.
There were people using the left side of the slope where we saw flurry of snow so that they can kick turn quickly on their way down.

I was encouraged by them and started. I did a few turns OK, but within no time I had missed the turn and get out on the ice. The ski edge wasn’t doing its job and I was nothing but to slide all the way down to the bottom of the slope. It was terrifying. There was the chance that I might jump into the valley.

My wife? Well she was smart enough to take a ride to coming down tow bar. She laughed at me when I arrived where she was standing.
